Poetry Games Co-Commission Announcement

We’re delighted to announce the recipients of the Poetry Games Co-commission, launched in partnership with Phoenix Cinema and Arts Centre, will be Mariana Marangoni and Rianna Seun.

Over the coming two months the artists will develop a new collaborative practice, exploring how game-making and poetry interact. We will share their aspects of their process each month, leading up to a launch at the National Poetry Library in January to present the final aspect of their work together, and further exhibition opportunities with Phoenix later in the year.

In addition to funding support, Marangoni and Suen will have access to production support and mentoring from the Playing Poetry and Phoenix Cinema and Arts Centre teams.

We look forward to sharing news of this new collaborative project with you as it progresses, but in the meantime, please meet the artists!

Mariana Marangoni

Mariana Marangoni is a Brazilian artist and researcher based in London. Through a wide range of media such as installations, web-based experiments and fictional short stories, Mariana critically explores the materiality of media and the boundaries between natural and machine languages. She holds a MA in Interaction Design at the London College of Communication and is currently an Associate Lecturer at LCC. Amongst others, she has performed and exhibited internationally at the Victoria and Albert Museum (UK), Ars Electronica (AT) and Gaîté Lyrique’s NØ LAB (FR).

Rianna Suen

Rianna Suen is a generative artist, knitwear designer and game dev based in London. She mostly makes puzzle games and interactive craft based generators, but also dabbles in twitter bots and generative music. Previous works include Concrete Nest, a generative concrete poetry making tool, and Motif, a pattern making game inspired by the works of William Morris.

Stay tuned for further details on the commission and other events we have coming up.
